Gaute Granli from Stavanger, Norway plays a hazy, skronky, leftfield blue exotica noir toppled with confusion and discomfort.

Steve Jansen is a Texas-based experimentalist (and not Steve Jansen, the drummer from Japan!) whose musical pursuits focus on tape manipulation, alto saxophone, and electric guitar. Jansen has traveled extensively throughout Africa, Latin America, Europe, and across the States to unearth sound, and these recordings play a significant role in his unique sonic constructions. Jansen has toured with John Wiese (Sissy Spacek), Mike Majkowski and performed/collaborated with Rob Mazurek, Henry Kaiser, Jeph Jerman, Ingebrigt Håker Flaten, Jamison Williams, The Home of Easy Credit, Tim Daisy, James Fella, Chris Cogburn, Damon Smith, Sandy Ewen, and Whoopi Pupi. In May, Danish label El Paraiso will release an LP by Black Cube Marriage, an ensemble led by Rob Mazurek that includes Jansen as a “special guest.”

Live :: Brutus (NOR/SWE; Psychedelic / Hard Rock) - 03. August 2017
BRUTUS are a Scandinavian quintet - part Swede, part Norwegian - who subscribe to the Witchcraft school of throwback hard rock. According to the band, inspiration is drawn from (amongst others) Blue Cheer, Sabbath, Pentagram, and Grand Funk Railroad. In other words: butterfingered, groovy, and psychedelic hard rock!
BRUTUS' Behind the Mountains is the band's first album for SVART RECORDS, and second overall.
Comments the band, "Behind the Mountains was recorded in various parts over a long period, so it took a while to get ready. But we are really happy with our second album, so it was all worth it. The songs were recorded in Subsonic Society here in Oslo, the same studio that we used for the split EP with Graviators. For mastering and mixing, we used Micke Nilson and Henryk Lipp from Music-a-Matic studio in Gothenburg - same guys we worked with for the debut LP. Now we just want to put it out for everyone to enjoy it as we do. You can start with the first single Personal Riot right away!"

Berliner Zeitung, 13.04.17

Live: Mo, 24.07.17: Širom (SI)
Širom - Homepage
YouTube - Trilogija
YouTube - Svetlobni prelaz čez vrnitev
The intertwining of diverse musical approaches and tools, histories of sounds and unbridled musical imagination and craftmanship is the expansive guiding principle of the Širom trio, whose members stem from the regions of Prekmurje, Tolminsko and Kras.
More than a dozen instruments can be found in the repertoire of Iztok Koren, Samo Kutin and Ana Kravanja and at least as many given musical forms that can be perceived as an inspiration behind the character of this new ensemble. However, in their practice as well as experiencing they remain anchored in their creative process to an extent that allows them to avoid merely reflecting existing patterns. What this generates in an original, stylistically homogeneous form of expression that oscillates between a wide array of folk sounds and contemporary acoustic rock-style meditations. The end result is grounded yet still mystical minimalism. Širom’s music is contemplative, but can get harder when necessary, it is closer to being band- than chamber-like, to being street as opposed to urban in nature.
Each member of Širom also performs in a myriad of other bands and music projects, such as ŠKM banda, Hexenbrutal, Najoua, Samo Gromofon, and Horda grdih.
Iztok Koren – banjo, bass banjo, bass drum, frame drums, chimes, balafon, objects
Ana Kravanja – violin, viola, ribab, cünbüs, kalimba, bendir, balafon, frame drums, voice, objects
Samo Kutin – harps, ukulele, kalimba, brač, balafon, one string bass, frame drums, voice, objects

Live: 18.05.17 - The Sonic Dawn (dk)
The Sonic Dawn is a trip – a psychedelic mixture of styles, from jazzy sitar pop to heavy acid rock. Expect melodic songs with a 60s flavor, laced with dreamy vocals and delivered with an explosive stage presence.
Their 2015 debut album became the start of The Sonic Dawn’s international career and caused reviewers to speculate that they might be “the next big band of the current retro rock wave” (eclipsed Rock Magazine). Since the release they have been on several European tours. A highlight of 2016 was opening the notorious Freak Valley Festival, sharing the stage with Graveyard and Dead Meadow. This year they can be experienced all over Europe again, confirmed for some of the best venues and festivals, such as Liverpool Psych Fest.
Into the Long Night is the trio’s second and most ambitious album yet. Written by day and recorded at night during a month of complete isolation by The North Sea, it is as light and gracious as it is dark and mysterious. Released on Heavy Psych Sounds, world-wide on April 21st, 2017.

Live: 22.05.17 - Japanese New Music Festival 2017
The Japanese New Music Festival is a showcase tour in which the trio of Tatsuya Yoshida (Ruins), Kawabata Makoto (Acid Mothers Temple Official) and Atsushi Tsuyama (ex. Acid Mothers Temple) perform as multiple different units. The tour will return to Europe May 2017, with our three heroes performing as 8 separate groups. The groups mix and deconstruct all kinds of music from psychedelic rock, prog, jazz, classical to contemporary composition, experimental, and ethnic music. Their sound is unashamedly uncategorizable, with undercurrents of Frank Zappa and his belief that humour was an essential part of music. Each of the members brings a rich wealth of musical learning, knowledge and experience. The line-up for this year's tour will be: Ruins Alone, Acid Mothers Temple SWR, Akaten, Zoffy, Zubi Zuva X, Psyche Bugyo, Atsushi Tsuyama Solo, Makoto Kawabata Solo.

1. – RUINS ALONE (Yoshida Tatsuya solo)
Yoshida is one of the most innovative drummer/composer/improviser in Japan’s new music scene. pioneer of Drum & Bass duo RUINS was founded by Yoshida in ’85 . Tunes are complicated and mysterious, and songs are sung in the language of their own invention. It’s high-tension, wild, heavy, speedy, acute, and powerful tremendous ensemble never sounds like they are only two players. now RUINS had no bassist and currently he has been playing as RUINS ALONE. playing RUINS songs with sampling bass.
2. – TSUYAMA ATSUSHI solo
Tsuyama is best known for his monster bass in Acid Mothers Temple, but he also has amazing technique of guitar and vocal. his He has travelled around the world and accumulated the traditional styles of guitars/vocals in europe and asia. he adds his own interpretations and lyrical sense to create a beautiful but odd “fake traditional” musical world. recently he developed a new figure called “prog.rock > blues-ization plan”. he dismantle the masterpiece of progressive rock, and restructure it as an impromptu blues.
3. – KAWABATA MAKOTO solo
Kawabata Makoto is best known for his speed-demon noise-fuzz guitar in Acid Mothers Temple, but he is also widely active as an unparalleled drone guitarist. Drawing upon a huge reservoir of original techniques including metal glissando and bow-work that can summon up the sound of a string ensemble or orchestra, his work in this area cannot be simply categorized as minimal, drone or experimental. You’ll find it hard to believe that a single guitar can create sonic worlds of such meditative and elegant depth.
4. – ZOFFY (Tsuyama/Kawabata)
Formed in 1998. Zoffy’s music hints both at the members’ deep musical knowledge via their improvised performances of troubadour music and European trad, and also at their deep love for rock via their destructivist covers of classic rock songs, that no longer sounds like anything but ZOFFY. The group believes that humor is essential in music, and their unprecedented performances stray far from the beaten track. Is this the Ultima Thule that rock music has long been aiming for?
5. – AKATEN (Tsuyama/Yoshida)
Formed in 1995 with the motto of “irresponsibleness” and “perfunctoriness.” They easily free themselves from the spell of the traditional seriousness of the art. Using daily commodities like scissors, toothbrush, zipper, camera, and plastic bottle as percussions, and shouting their brand names over and over as the “songs,” the show is performed under the concept of low cost and maximum sound effect. AKATEN is the experimental convenience store punk band that provides the sound images of cheap and simple daily lives.
6. – ZUBI ZUVA X (Yoshida/Tsuyama/Kawabata)
Eccentric poly-rhythmic a cappella ensemble. It covers from Gregorian chant to ethnic music, to do-wop to hardcore screaming, heavily using irregular rhythms and polyrhythm. All sorts of ideas and aberrant musicality overturn the image of a cappella. their totally meaningless lyrics and desperate performances throw the audiences into the abyss of the laughter and admiration. it makes the concept of “singing ability”nonsense.
7. – PSYCHE BUGYO (Tsuyama/Yoshida/Kawabata)
Atsushi Tsuyama’s blend of two of his favourite things: Japanese samurai and ninja costume dramas, and British rock (mid 60s to mid 70s). The lyrics deal with themes from these dramas with typical Tsuyama humour, while the music is hardcore, authentic British rock tropes from the golden age – an ultimate, ultra-personal rock fusion of east and west! Special line-up for this tour including Tatsuya Yoshida on drums and Makoto Kawabata on bass.
8. – ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE SWR (Kawabata/Tsuyama/Yoshida)
Acid Mothers Temple have rapidly become acclaimed as the greatest, most extreme trip psychedelic group in the world. Releases have appeared on labels around the world at an amazing pace, and the magnificence of their live performances is already being whispered of as legendary. SWR is the AMT Family’s most powerful battle-formation yet. featuring Tsuyama and Kawabata from the original AMT and Yoshida from Ruins. their crushingly acute freakout sound will pulverize the world’s legions of wannabe psych groups.
