Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens is one of the most important venues of industrial history in Greece.
It covers an area of approximately 30 acres and constitutes a live industrial site of industrial archaeology. It is located
in the old Gas factory in Athens, known as “Gazi”, next to the Keramikos and Acropolis antique sites. Technopolis
is a private entity owned by the Municipality of Athens focusing on creating and hosting cultural and artistic events open to the general public. Its gradual transformation into a versatile cultural centre, gives visitors the chance to wander around in a space mixing works of art, knowledge, and sentiments with Industrial buildings, machinery and installations.
Our top priority at this stage is to highlight the exceptional history and cultural heritage of this site which has not been presented up to now. Thus, we are currently embarking on a programme to create an industrial Museum, working together with a team of experts such as museologists, historians, and
mechanics. The Industrial Museum will be open to the public from this coming November.
