Our mission:
To be a space of distinction in the production and dissemination of Arts and Culture, an incubator or intercultural dialogue, non-formal learning and cultural development.
For the reason that the AGORA of Alexandria played a core role in shaping the current identity of the City, I chose the title AGORA Arts and Culture for an organization with the endeavor of reviving the concept of the real Agora as a gathering place and a venue for "Self-expression" through Arts Practice.
The Start With Yourself Festival
The Culture of Street Arts and Street Events was not prevalent in Egypt, there are a few activities in Cairo and Alexandria. Cultural and Arts Organizations had the deal with the obstacle of the permissions. With the revolution it became easier in terms of the permissions. On 24 February, AGORA organized the first street Festival / public
artistic Event in Alexandria. It was held in Shalalat Garden, and was titled "Start With Yourself" aiming at promoting positive social change.
We decided that this festival and the movement it created in the community shall be sustained. Thus, we announced that the festival will take place every six months in a different public location. The location is chosen by the audience through an online voting. On October 7th, we had the second edition of the Festival on the magnificent Beach "Stanley". The Festival was attended by approximate 9000 attendees. This time, 22% of the expenses of the festival were contributed by the audience as donations.
