20120416 SIM UPDATE - www.stubnitz.com/med

Dear friends, collaborators, partners, former partners, ex future partners, supporters of the SIM project .. well dear all,

With many apologies at first for not contacting you all individually .. I hope you'll excuse us and understand there are now quite a few people involved in this mess. Besides, please be sure we will, hopefully soon.

Many apologies as well for the delays in sending this update.. (yet this belongs to the area anyway .. we cannot be held fully responsible for it).

SIM INFO - 20100612 - Continuation of the SIM project

Everything is OK: The ship is stuck in Aarhus, the Association is on the verge of falling for bankruptcy and we lost the support of the Anna Lindh Foundation, but everything is OK: we go on in all good will and enthusiasm.

Few good reasons to keep thinking our situation is not completely desperate:

1/ From a Stubnitz point of view:

a/ It is not as if it was the first time the Stubnitz was facing a difficult situation:

SIM INFO - 20100603 - ALF falls offboard

"ALF falls offboard", a somewhat a little less depressing way to say that we lost our major financial partner.

With regard to the verious serious difficulties that we faced last year (see previous post), which resulted in a serious risk for the MS STUBNITZ of falling for bankruptcy, the decision was taken to inform the Anna Lindh Foundation of our situation.

Our proposal was the following:

Several initiatives were undertaken in order for the ship to reopen on a short term schedule. (Here under is just a short summary, I'll look for more details):

In Amsterdam:
-A press campaign was launched,
-The support of the Mayor and regional authorities was always granted to the Stubnitz

No result.

In Aarhus:

More than 3300 supporters registered within a week.

Well, the same. Kind of. No same reasons but same result: No activities for one month now. We're starving to death, intellectually as well as physically.

STUBNITZ INFO - 20100520 - Stubnitz sails to Aarhus (Dk)

The MS STUBNITZ sailed on the 17th of may 2010 to Aarhus, in the north of Denmark. It was to become part of the renowned spot-festival -www.spotfestival.dk-.

SIM INFO - 20100401-06 - Coordination Meeting Istanbul

A series of meetings was held in Istanbul between the 29/04 and the 03/05 2010, that allowed the SIM project to get rooted in Turkey.

The main objectives of these meetings were for the SIM project :

=>To gain a first view on the feasibility of the project in Turkey.
=>To identify the partners the SIM project could rely on in Turkey.

Hence, numerous cultural actors were approached, who all gave a very positive feedback to the project. Istanbul appears definitely as a major stopover for the project.

La présente réunion s’est tenue les mercredi 14 et samedi 17 avril 2010 entre les associations :
MS STUBNITZ (de) (Urs Blaser ; Thierry Jaussoin) TIMITAR (ma) (Brahim El Mazned) ACOUSMATIK (lb) (Hady Saleh) M. Camel Zekry (fr, dz) LE FEST (fr, tu) (Afif Riahi)

Elle avait pour principal objectif de permettre à ceux des nouveaux participants du programme (LE FEST ; Camel Zekry ; Acousmatik) qui n’avaient encore pu être invités sur le bateau de se familiariser avec la structure et ses modes de fonctionnement.

Leaving Copenhagen, the MS STUBNITZ is back to Rostock on the 06th of april 2010, where it will remain until the 17th of may.
